Goodbye Gel and Cream. Hello, Milk!

Vie Collection Cleansing Gel and Cleansing Creams have gone bye-bye. Don't fret. Say hello to Instant Cleansing Milk ! A rich, milky cleanser that gently cleanses the skin and removes pollutants and impurities to reveal clean, supple skin. It helps replenish the skin, limiting the appearance of breakouts and fighting against skin aging. It fills wrinkles and plumps the skin providing an anti-aging effect. Collagen is stimulated and the skin is able to store more water. This detoxifying cleanser leaves skin plumped, oxygenated and perfectly cleansed.

Bagel Head

I guess I have finally gotten to the age where I can say that I don't understand young people anymore. Pity. I actually never thought I would get there. Really. I've always told myself. "Never forget what it was like to be a teenager." The angst, feeling like nobody understands, wanting to be cool. Never forget. There's still a big part of me that hasn't. Really. That being said. I just cannot, cannot, understand this  (beauty?) trend: Bagel Head. It started in Japan in 2008 and is quickly gaining steam with those in this country who are into body modification. The forehead is injected with saline solution and then after the skin is sufficiently plumped up, they take their thumb and push a hole into the middle so that it resembles a bagel. Hence the name, Bagel Head. The "bagel" only lasts about 16 hours because the body absorbs the saline solution. I believe I understand and appreciate a lot of beauty trends; tattoos, piercings, injecti

Cleansing Oil?

Anyone using a cleansing oil in their skincare regimen? I have put down my Vie Collection Cleansing Cream (I've been using this for about 15 years and cheating on it is tough!) to give an entire bottle of Phytomer White Lumination Radiance Cleansing Oil a fair shake. I'm a week in and I'm REALLY liking it. My skin feels like it is keeping its hydration, like I am used to, and there is an added glow - I'm not sure if that is from the lightening of my freckles or if it is a glow from the oil. Either way I really like it.  I want to give it a fair shake as cleansing oils are starting to gain some steam. Have you ever used one? What is your experience?

Aspirin and Melanoma

via American Spa Magazine   by Jennifer James A study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health has revealed that postmenopausal women who used aspirin regularly had a reduced risk of developing melanoma. Those who had been taking aspirin for less than a year had about an 11 percent reduction, those who had been taking aspirin regularly for one to four years had a 20 percent reduction, and those taking it for five years or longer were 30 percent less likely to develop melanoma than nonusers. However, it is important to note that regular users of acetaminophen had the same melanoma incidence as non-users, and three-quarters of aspirin users were on regular or extra-strength doses. No conclusions could be drawn as to whether low-dose aspirin has the same chemopreventive effects. It looks as though an aspirin a day may help keep skin cancer away.
