The Flying Tomato

Shaun White is one of the reasons I enjoy the Winter Olympics. What's not to like. How charismatic is this guy?! As well as talented, of course. He just makes me smile.

I have a thing for ginger kids. Ever since one popped into my life almost 15 years ago, I have been fascinated by the world that they live in - Trust me, it is very different than ours. But, that is a whole different post.
I especially love a red-headed boy with curls and when it's long, I just want to give them a hug and be their best friend!

Thanks to @thescissorboy, I came across this article.

I think Shaun White would be the perfect candidate for Kinky-Curly.
"Hotel shampoo and conditioner"?! Ick.
Shaun, you wouldn't need to wear a hat (not that you don't look cute in a hat) for a day if you weren't using a shampoo that is too strong for that mane of yours. That's the reason your hair can be so bushy and the reason you need to wear the hat so it calms down that crazy.

Shades of Spring

An excerpt from the March edition of American Spa Magazine.

The who's who of nailcare share the latest color trends for spring and dish on how they come up with the creative and offbeat names bestowed upon today's polishes.

Shel Pink, vice president and founder, SpaRitual.

What's involved in naming a new color?
The process always begins with creating a theme that's inherent to the SpaRitual DNA. A collective group that lives the SpaRitual lifestyle gathers, and we work together to craft names that evoke the feeling and emotion of the collection.

What are your top five all-star shade names?
I Feel the Earth Move, Alive, Sage, and Solitude.

Field of Dreams

An excerptfrom the March edition of American Spa Magazine.  Article by Heather Mikesell

If ever there was a fragrance associated with the world of spa, it would have to be lavender, a blossoming herb in the mint family that is native to the sun-soaked hills of the Mediterranean.. With its universally appealing scent, it has long been a popular ingredient in soaps, perfumes and other products. In fact, the namelavenderis derived from the Latin root lavare, which means to wash. Possessing a calming fragrance, this violet-blue blossom lends itself to a relaxing environment. If that isn't incentive enough to consider adding lavender to your life, then consider the fact that lavender is also a natural remedy with a host of healing benefits.

Lynne Vertrees, spa director at The LakeHouse Spa at Lake Austin Spa Resort (TX) claims the health benefits range from relieving pain to serving as a natural sleep aid.

It should come as no surprise the fact that lavender is one of the most commonly…

Buzz Party Fun!

A full account of our blizzard fest Crave Buzz Party from February 12th.

Everyone thought I was crazy to head out into a blizzard to Lululemon’s Minneapolis Showroom for this event.
I just had to. I am so excited to be featured in this publication that neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep me from supporting my fellow business women.

So glad to have proven my Minnesota mettle.

Don't worry, there will be more Crave parties. And, your urban girls' manifesto publishes in May!

How do you use it?

I'm always fascinated by the many unconventional ways clients use products.
This is one is new to me.

Styptic pencils for cankers sores? Yup.

Styptic pencils were designed to stop the bleeding from nicks during shaving. Originally designed for use by men, but many women now use them for their own shaving mishaps.

A client purchased one recently and she told me she and her family use them to help heal cankers sores. It makes sense as it certainly helps nicks heal quickly.
I'm not going to wish for a canker sore, but I will certainly be trying out this trick the next time I have one.

Beyond The Sea

For centuries, people have been flocking to the Dead Sea in search of the healing properties that saltwater provides. Today, those same healing properties can be found in myriad spa treatments and products. In addition to being a natural exfoliant, sea salt contains a number of therapeutic minerals, such as magnesium, which helps promote healing and relaxes the body; bromide, which soothes the skin; potassium, which is a natural moisturizer and helps prevent water retention; and sulfur, which helps detoxify. With all of these positive benefits, it is no wonder sea salt is a star ingredient on many spa menus, helping you keep your skin soft, smooth, and hydrated.
Exfoliating Experience
According to Tracey Archer, spa manager at The Spa at Sandy Lane (Barbados), using sea salt to exfoliate prior to wraps helps prepare the skin properly. "Sea salt is very beneficial before a wrap because it removes dead skin cells and allows the pores to open, which helps the products u…
