As spring ramps up into summer, so do conversations of getting a base and working on that summer tan. Yet the facts are startling: According to the American Academy of Dermatology, “studies have found a 75-percent increase in the risk of melanoma in those who have been exposed to UV radiation from indoor tanning.” If you’re looking to get a healthy glow without disappointing your dermatologist, there are plenty of cosmetic options. Here, four local beauty industry professionals share their favorite products designed to safely give skin that sun-kissed look:
Becky Sturm, founder and CEO of StormSister Spatique, praises Phytoceane Self-Tanning Lotion ($30.50). “I love that you get a fabulous tan while also getting completely moisturized,” Sturm says. She goes on to suggest exfoliating before using the lotion, which gets rid of “dry, flaky skin and encourages an even application.”....
