Shave Cream Mini

I just received 15 ML sizes of the Phytoceane Homme Shave Cream.
It had been previously only available in the larger 150 ML size.
This new size is perfect for your Dopp kits, gentlemen.

The cream consistency is such a fresh concept from all of the tired foams dominating the market.

Sheila Goes to Washington, recap

Sheila Mossberg, CEO and founder of NONTOXIQUE went to DC to testify before Congress earlier this week.
The following information is from two emails I received from her this morning. They have been reprinted with her permission (thanks Sheila).

Yesterday started with breakfast at the Fairfax on Embassy row (cha-ching) and we listened to Charlie Cook, the Publisher of the Cook Political Report. He is a political analyst for NBC News and is the guy on the Hill when it comes to elections and political trends.

He was very interesting to listen to and get to do Q & A with after. A really funny guy and right to the point which I like. He talked about the current state of politics re the democratic party and the republican party and recapped some major events for both sides that has really positioned them as the not so favorable party for the time etc.

He talked about the new health care bill that was signed Tuesday and is still going through reconciliation and so on. He talked about how things work on the Hill so it was great for me being new to the political game.

Afterwords, the President of the Natural Products Association along with a panel of board-members / scientist spoke about some of the current legislation that we were there to meet about, share our concerns and for me, tell them why some of them mattered to me.

The biggest one, although McCain withdrew support from, was the S. 3002. What people don't realize is even though McCain withdrew, this will make its way around again and may even be snuck into other active legislation. The problem with trying to make all suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and anyone else involved in natural supplements is that it's actually an attempt to start controlling our choice for health care. Interesting timing with the new healthcare bill.

This is a problem for the thousands ( StormSister says, "please let it not be 'thousands' but MILLIONS") of Americans who choose natural health and are not a burden to the system. It is a problem for our industry as we see health care integrating into spas in the form of wellness promoting treatments, especially those who actually have licensed nutritionist or chiropractors who they work with to create healthy living plans and services for clients.

It's a problem because there are lots of us in this business who are like me, they try to live as organic a life as they can and when the poisons of the industry catch up with us, like in my case, I chose natural health which meant lots of supplements known and proven to be effective in treating what was wrong. I wasn't a burden on the system. I happily paid for my sessions and supplements just thankful I had that choice.

It was interesting to speak with our leaders and legislative assistants and hear that many of them are in support of protecting our freedom of choice in this area. McCain was an idiot for what he did and according to Cook, he didn't even understand his own bill!

I was able to talk with the President of the Natural Products Association over lunch along with a few others and we talked about consumer trust when it comes to what they're buying and how they look at products seals that in my opinion just add to the confusion. I was asked because of what happened to me and how clean a product has to be for me to even consider it, what my thoughts on the seal for natural products are.

I had to tell them I believe they are not hitting the mark yet. We talked about why that is and how to go forward to make it 100%. I told them that if I can do it, and others making skin care and hair care can do it, then they have to be solid so their seal means something to everyone. We are all going to talk about this in the coming weeks and months and most likely tie it to what I am putting together here with others trying to get some standards set that consumers and industry workers can trust.

Interestingly, some of those I spoke with in DC were interested in this group I'm forming and thought it might be the first real step in making local changes that could lead to greater and widely accepted change in our industry! I could have cried when I left these meetings yesterday finally realizing that when I feel like I don't have a voice in the things that matter to me or others around me, it's because I've never really exercised it. If we care about something enough, you make your self heard. You go right to the people who need to know your story and why it matters.

I am optimistic as to where this group will go and what we could accomplish, especially with some of our lawmakers taking an interest.

I feel like I made some great contacts to help in moving our industry as best I can to a healthier place.

I asked Sheila to please clarify this sentence as I find it an interesting observation - "current state of politics re: the democratic party and the republican party and recapped some major events for both sides that has really positioned them as the not so favorable party for the time etc. "
Here answer is as follows:

He (Charlie Cook) talked about when the Republicans were in control and how it took them 8 years, literally 2 terms of Bush running things to have destroyed the republican brand and make everyone mistrust him and the republicans. By time his term was up, there was nothing any republican candidate could have done to re-gain the American trust so many Republicans chose to vote Democrat, Hence electing Obama into office.

Now, he says that with since Obama has been in office it has taken little over a year to ruin the Democratic brand and lose American trust. His approval is as bad as Bush's was but only after years. He talked about how Obama lacks experience in what he's doing and his decisions are reflecting that and most likely the Democrats will not win the next election because of how messy things have become at Obama's hand.

He went on and on and explained many topics throughout both administrations and the problems along with historical polling data. It was pretty interesting to hear right from the expert what's happened and how Americans view the administration and what things scare us as a whole and turn us away.

This Health care bill is a huge mistake and more Americans are not in support of it than those who are. The ones who are don't understand the bill. Obama should be focused on jobs and economy but has become too wrapped up in getting this reform passed while he's in office and it has some asking why?

Readers of this blog. Please, do your research.

    Dayna Devon Reveals

TV Host Dayna Devon Reveals Her Nips and Tucks
An excerpt from Stylist by Marissa Gold

Spending ten years interviewing the world's biggest celebrities on "Extra" taught Dayna Devon a thing or two.

The Texas-born TV host moved to Hollywood for her Extra gig, and her easy-going personality and star-quality looks earned her much success. Not to mention the affection of a plastic surgeon, Dr. Brent Moelleken, whom Devon ended up marrying.

"He introduced me to fillers" (link to StormSister's favorite) said Devon who is a spokeswoman for a popular wrinkle filler. "I just think it's great that we have these options now," she explained. "I love them!"

Devon isn't shy about chatting revealing what she's had done, and doesn't understand why things have to be so hush-hush.

"Members of the [Extra] crew would knock on my door and whisper 'I have to ask you a question. What about this? Or this?'" Luckily for the crew, Devon openly dispensed advice based on her experience. "I've had these lines done [she gestures to the nose-to-mouth lines] and Botox," she reveals.

While we wouldn't be surprised if Devon's perfectly chiseled facial features were the result of more invasive procedures, she insists she sticks to the temporary ones, like aforementioned filler and eyelash extensions.

"You wake up in the morning and they're like, bing! You go to the gym and they're like bing!" she laughs at her foray into doe-eyed-ness (a StormSister favorite).

    NONTOXIQUE and Congress

NONTOXIQUE CEO and Founder, Sheila Mossberg, is on her way to DC to testify before Congress about the McCain Bill S3002.
Sheila believes it is "essentially the beginning of a ban on nutritional supplements in the US."

Many are stating McCain is 'revisiting' this bill. (Thank you, Mr. McCain.)

I agree with Sheila and her desire to address Congress on this matter. She is doing something. Not simply bitching about it. I highly respect that.

I received the following email from her this afternoon:

I am going to share my story of cosmetic toxicity with congress and express how important nutritional supplements were in getting my body detoxed and well. Wellness is a huge part of our industry as you know the increase in spa services and even naturopathic doctors or chiropractors supports that.

I am going to voice my concerns as it relates to my experience and how important it is to make sure bills like this never see the day of light because they infringe on our most basic freedom of choice in how we care for ourselves. Further more, with this sector of our industry growing, it would literally cripple it and hurt many areas of health and beauty all together.

I am so committed to making a difference beyond just safe great products. I am also acting as a voice for those who share my concerns as well.

I thought that in support of Natural products and my trip to DC, you could run a special for all your customers to support me, a local business owner working to make a difference and you, a local business owner who supports local brands. Buying natural ensures that we will retain our freedom to have that choice.

I'm more than happy to do just that, Sheila.

Sheila arrives in DC on Monday, March 22. On that day the first 22 people in StormSister Spatique will receive 22% off all NONTOXIQUE products.
March 23rd is the actual date she testifies before Congress. The first 23 people in StormSister Spatique will receive 23% off all NONTOXIQUE products.

This is an exclusive offer with StormSister Spatique and is not available online or with any other NONTOXIQUE retailer.
If you are not able to stop by, please call (877 455 4668) to place your order and we will ship it to you.

    Kick some ass, sister!

    INtelligent Nutrients Hand Sanitizer

IN is a little tardy to the piggy fever party.
But they make a grand entrance anyway into the hand sanitizer festival with Hand Purifier.

Those nasty Triclosan laden hand sanitizers are still on most office desks and counters across America. As well as many hand bags and back packs.

Now you can kill germs and do it in a nontoxic manner without zapping every ounce of moisture from your digits.
Do yourself a favor and replace that sanitizer, with this one.

Mmmmm, and the peppermint is heavenly.

    Hairdresser Humor

    Thanks Beverly S.

A guy stuck his head into a barbershop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looked around the shop full of customers and said, "About 2 hours." The guy left. A few days later, the same guy stuck his head in the door and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looked around at the shop and said, "About 3 hours." The guy left. A week later, the same guy stuck his head in the shop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut? The "barber looked around the shop and said, "About an hour and a half." The guy left. The barber turned to his friend and said, "Hey, Bob, do me a favor. Follow that guy and see where he goes.

He keeps asking how long he has to wait for a haircut, but then he doesn't ever come back." A little while later, Bob returned to the shop, laughing hysterically. The barber asked, "So, where does that guy go when he leaves?" Bob looked up, wiped the tears from his eyes and said, "Your house!"

    L-Lysine for your L-Lips

I'm prone to cold sores and I've tried everything, short of a prescription.
I believe I have found the remedy! At least for me and a handful of other folks I have shared my secret with.

As you know, herpes is forever. So, all we can do is manage the breakouts.
The following remedy keeps them from exploding their crazy all over your lips. The trick is always being prepared and to catch said eruption in time.
What does "being prepared" mean? It means that you need to have these two items within arms reach as soon as you feel that familiar itch/tingle.
I keep both in my handbag. If you're a man and don't fancy a man bag, keep these at work and at home.

1000 mg of L-Lysine. L-Lysine is an amino acid that is found in many foods. I get mine from my local supplement store.
Herpecin-L - This is a lip balm that I pick up from my local drug store.

As soon as I feel that tingle/itch, I immediately apply the balm.
There is something to be said about catching the monster early as you know how quickly those blisters grow.
Then I pop two of the L-Lysine. It's amazing how quickly everything begins to subside.
I continue to apply the balm to the inflamed area.
Then at night before bed I pop another L-Lysine and then again in the morning.

Truly, even if you don't catch it immediatly, do the above two steps as soon as possible as I swear it cuts healing time in half.
Once everything is gone, discontinue regimen.

To cover my arse, be certain to speak with your doctor about taking supplemental L-Lysine as there may be some contraindication with it and another medication you may be taking. And, we certainly don't want you to be solving one dilemma and having let's say, your liver fall out.
    So, talk to your doc.

Have I heard it all, yet?

This excerpt was taken from Parade - Personality Parade.

    Tricks of Pageantry

    Q) Is it true that many Miss America contestants spray their bodies with hairspray to keep from jiggling and with WD-40 to keep their gowns from sticking to certain areas?--David Evans, Los Angeles, Calif.

    A) Too true. The TLC special Miss America: Behind the Curtain made these shocking revelations, and this year's winner, Caressa Cameron, 22--a former Miss Virginia and the eighth African-American to take the crown--didn't mind a bit. "I was really excited about the show," she tells us. "It was good for people to know that there are little tricks of the trade that make sure we look our best. WD-40 is absolutely awesome."

    Oh Caressa, Caressa, Caressa.

"It was good for people to know...?!" What, that you're all idiots?

"Tricks of the trade." I LOVE tricks of the trade! But, they were once just considered a dab of hemorrhoid cream for puffy eyes or some some blush in the decollete to give the illusion of more cleavage, Vaseline on your front teeth to keep your lipstick from adhering to your pearly whites and duct tape to keep the girls hiked up.

Now you have graduated to spraying yourselves with WD-40 - a lubricant used by mechanics and plumbers, etc? Oy!

I used to help my dad with projects around the house. WD-40 was a staple in his fix-it bag of tricks. Hell, it's a staple in my house (I have a WD-40 No-Mess pen here at my desk), but I use it for its purpose - To loosen things that are stuck!
Just like when I was a little girl helping my dad, he would spray the stuff and I would leave the room because it smelled like I was being gassed. Dad would spray it and then we would leave whatever it was that got WD-40'd and allow it to set for a while. Then miraculously that bolt or pipe would be loose when we came back.
Yes Caressa, WD-40 is absolutely awesome.

I wish I could find an ingredient list for this magical stuff, but it's a secret per the terms of their patent.
But, I did get this info from the WD-40 can:

    Emergency Overview.
DANGER! Flammable aerosol. Contents under pressure. Harmful or fatal if swallowed. If swallowed, may be aspirated and cause lung damage. May cause eye irritation. Avoid eye contact. Use with adequate ventilation. Keep away from heat, sparks and all other sources of ignition.
    Symptoms of Overexposure:
Inhalation: High concentrations may cause nasal and respiratory irritation and central nervous system effects such as headache, dizziness and nausea. Intentional abuse may be harmful or fatal.
Skin Contact: Prolonged and/or repeated contact may produce mild irritation and defatting with possible dermatitis.
Eye Contact: Contact may be irritating to eyes. May cause redness and tearing.
Ingestion: This product has low oral toxicity. Swallowing may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. This product is an aspiration hazard. If swallowed, can enter the lungs and may cause chemical pneumonitis, severe lung damage and death.
    Chronic Effects: None expected.
Medical Conditions Aggravated by Exposure: Preexisting eye, skin and respiratory conditions may be aggravated by exposure.

Ingestion (Swallowed): Aspiration Hazard. DO NOT induce vomiting. Call physician, poison control center or the WD-40 Safety Hotline at 1-888-324-7596 immediately.
Eye Contact: Flush thoroughly with water. Remove contact lenses if present after the first 5 minutes and continue flushing for several more minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists.
Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water. If irritation develops and persists, get medical attention.

This is just a small sampling of the danger listed on the can.
There is so much to say about how important Caressa thinks she is and how she believes her "tips" are important to the women/people of America.

I simply cannot keep still on this one. It's not my fault.

So many women have complained over the years about pageants and what they are doing to American women/girls, blah, blah, blah.
I've kept quiet, not certain if I agree.
This, for some reason - maybe the pure stupidity of her comments - is my limit.

Do us all a favor Caressa. Take up huffing. WD-40 will do the trick.

Have I heard it all yet? Sadly, probably not.

    NONTOXIQUE March Madness

PURCHASE A NONTOXIQUE HAND CREME AND SERUM DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH AND RECEIVE A  HAND CLEANSER FREE!
This offer is for storefront and phone orders only. Not available online.

The following info is an excerpt from the NONTOXIQUE blog.

This time of year we may notice that our bodies are more dry and for some of us, we even have small patches of dry skin or cracked skin that seems more prevalent in one area or one part of the body than others.  The hands are one such place for this and often times, irritant dermatitis seems to be the culprit for a few short but sometimes painful months.
I cannot stress enough how damaging and sensitizing synthetic chemicals are for your skin and even more so, how toxic they are for your health.  I have listed several types of eczema / dermatitis to help you figure out what your problematic skin might be from and what it may be telling you.
I refer to March as the winter month of madness when it comes to my skin because every year, this is about the time my skin is ready for the tropics and humidity.

    Types of Eczema

There are various types of eczema, with slightly different causes and symptoms. Most are related to allergies or contact with irritating chemicals such as synthetic chemicals often found in cosmetic products.   Some are associated with underlying medical conditions that cause fluid retention in the legs.  This list is meant only as a guide, not as a means of diagnosis.  If you suspect a problem it is best to see a naturopathic, homeopathic or internal doctor.
Contact dermatitis – When irritants touch the skin, they can produce two types of contact dermatitis. Irritant contact dermatitis is direct irritation of the skin. The problem is called allergic contact dermatitis when an allergic reaction occurs in the skin. Irritant contact dermatitis can be caused by prolonged contact with mild irritants such as bubble bath, soap, sweat, saliva, urine and even water. Allergic contact dermatitis only occurs in people who have an allergy to a specific substance. Common substances that trigger skin allergies include construction materials, cleaning products, deodorants, cosmetics, medications, chemicals in fragrances, skin cream and lotions, shampoos and shoes or clothing.
Hand eczema is a chronic eczema and is limited to the hands. It can be related to atopic eczema or it can occur because of repeated hand washing or exposure to strong detergents. Hand eczema can also be caused by an allergy, such as a latex allergy.
Nail eczema often accompanies hand eczema and manifest as flaking or pinpoint holes.
Irritant dermatitis of the hands, although appearing to be similar to hand eczema, and it is but tends to appear more mid-way through the winter and is often caused by constant hand washing using soaps and other cleansers that contain synthetic or harsh ingredients such as Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate , Lauramide DEA , Sodium Chloride , Cocamidopropyl Betaine , Fragrance , DMDM Hydantoin , Citric Acid , Tetrasodium EDTA , Polyquaternium-7 , Glycerin, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate , Benzophenone-4 , Triclosan, and Parabens.
These chemicals tend to strip the skin but also cause skin irritations and sensitizations.  With the dry winter air, what moisture is left in your poor hands is being sucked right out worsening the eczema.
It is important to wash your hands year round and even more so when the winter flu or cold sets in but it is vital to both your health and your skin to use products that are both non-sensitizing and irritating and also provide nourishment to your hands as they make their way through the winter battle field. As winter nears an end, irritant dermatitis of the hands tends to remedy itself as the air is filled with more moisture and we feel a little more comfortable about not washing our hands with everything we touch.
Varicose eczema affects the lower legs of those in their middle to late years, being caused by poor circulation. Commonly the skin around the ankles is affected, becoming speckled, itchy and inflamed. Treatment is with emollients and steroid creams. If left untreated, the skin can break down, resulting in an ulcer.
Discoid eczema occurs in numerous round patches affecting the arms and legs, usually in middle-aged men. It is usually found in adults and appears suddenly as a few coin shaped areas of red skin, normally on the trunk or lower legs. They become itchy and can weep fluid. This eczema is usually treated with emollients (and steroid creams if necessary).
Nummular eczema causes round, coin-sized patches of irritated skin, typically on the legs, arms or chest. It usually occurs in adults. It can be related to atopic dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis. In a few cases, it represents an allergic reaction to a fungal infection such as athlete’s foot. In this case, nummular eczema still appears typically on arms, legs or chest, even if the fungal infection is elsewhere on the body.
Asteatotic eczema is a dry-skin eczema causing fine cracks in the skin, usually first involving the lower legs, where there are fewer oil glands. It commonly occurs in the elderly, especially during winter months spent indoors in a low-humidity environment.
Stasis dermatitis occurs on the calves, ankles and feet in people who have varicose veins or other conditions that lead to poor blood circulation in the lower legs. Leg swelling leads to itching, fine red bumps, skin darkening and, sometimes, ankle sores.
Lichen simplex chronicus is reaction to repeated scratching or rubbing the skin in one location. A nervous skin-scratching habit can lead to thickened, discolored skin on the wrist, the ankle, groin or the back of the neck. Skin picking can lead to smaller bump-like areas of the same type of rash called prurigo nodularis.
